Aims and Scope

"Journal of Media & Social Change" is an interdisciplinary journal dedicated to exploring the role of media in driving social change. The journal focuses on the impact of media platforms - both traditional and digital - on social movements, cultural transformations, and the shaping of individual and collective identities. This journal aims to publish original research that critically examines how media influence societal norms, relationships, and values, and how they interact with political and social processes. Special attention is given to how media platforms shape personal identity and public opinion within the context of globalisation and the emergence of new cultural forms.

The journal welcomes theoretical, empirical, and comparative studies that address the evolving relationship between media and society. It invites contributions from a wide range of disciplines, including media studies, sociology, political science, cultural studies, and communication. This journal encourages research that investigates the power of media in shaping social structures, fostering cultural change, and influencing political discourse.

This includes the role of media in shaping political discourse, framing social and political issues, and influencing policy decisions.

  • Media and Social Norms: Exploration of how media, including both traditional and digital forms, help define and challenge societal norms. This includes the study of how media portray social issues such as inequality, justice, and rights, and how these representations shape public opinion and social behavior.
  • Globalisation and Media: Studies exploring the relationship between media and globalisation, including how global media networks and digital platforms contribute to the spread of cultural trends, the homogenisation of cultures, or the resistance to globalizing forces.
